Abstract/Contents: | The never-ending search for easy, fast, cheap, and foolproof green construction techniques as a recommended alternative to USGA recommended procedures continues, based on self-serving ends. Greens built in such ways are the ones that most often fail and must be rebuilt, or cost many times their original expense in terms of extra maintenance costs, poor-quality turf, aggravation, and unhappy golfers. Rest assured that the USGA is not going to put its name on construction methods designed primarily to make green construction easy, fast, and cheap, without including the foolproof. |
