| Abstract/Contents: | Provides financial advice for golf courses to consider when planning their budgets for 2013. States that an understanding of the local market is more important than nationwide trends, and that local census records can be used to develop more effective marketing strategies. Notes that flexible membership options may help to increase the number of paying members of a club, and that in light of increasing membership rates, clubs should begin to focus to member retention in order to keep sustained profits. Explains that clubs should be mindful of increased costs in certain areas, including shipping prices due to the rising costs of both corn and oil, as well as insurance rates, which can potentially be lessened by rewriting a club's risk profile. Adds that compensation strategies for employees may need to be adjusted after the recession in order to retain high-performance employees. |
