Abstract/Contents:"The site for the evaluation was a 'Penncross' creeping bentgrass golf green (90-10% sand-organic matter, pH 7.4) located at Stillwater, OK. The green was maintained at 0.19 in. mowing height, with 0.5 lb N/1000 ft2 applied monthly. Irrigation was supplied to prevent visual moisture stress. Experimental units were 3 x 12 ft plots consisting of a 2 x 12 ft treatment area and a 1 x 12 ft paired untreated check. A randomized complete block design with 3 replications was used. Each plot was subdivided into 3 sections for ratings at 7, 14 and 28 days after treatment (DAT). Each 3 x 4 ft subdivision was inoculated with Sclerotinia homoeocarpa infected rye grains 4 days before rating. Twelve treatments were applied on 7 Jun and 28 Jun 90 with a CO2 powered sprayer at 40 psi. Disease severity was evaluated by rating the plot and untreated check for disease on a 0 to 10 scale (i.e., 0 = no disease and 10 = completely blighted). Disease control was calculated (i.e., [(check - treated)/check] x 100) to adjust for variability of dollar spot infestation across the experimental area. Dollar spot did not occur on 14 Jun 90 (7DAT) due to weather conditions. On 22 Jun 90 (14DAT) disease pressure occurred from the inoculum and natural infection. Treatments were reapplied on 28 Jun 90 and rated for 7DAT and 28DAT. The curative evaluation was measured by rating the 14DAT plots 7 days after the second treatment. The difference in rating was the curative value. Disease pressure was excellent after the second treatment and the highest for the 28DAT rating. The 28DAT rating gave the best test for the treatments. MON18833 40WP had little activity on dollar spot. Vorlan 41F had poor disease control at 28DAT compared to the Vorlan 25WP + Fungo 25WP. San-619F 40WP and SAN-832F 50WG had good preventative activity. Curative activity seemed to be inconsistent with all treatments, but some activity was observed."
