| Abstract/Contents: | Details a case study from the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI) Programme meant to show that "assessment can bring about a clear understanding of the situation" in order create an efficient maintenance plan for a golf course. States that the main concern of the golf course was to maintain a quick green speed, and recommends that the cut height on the green be raised slightly and the amount of fertilizer used on the green be reduced. Notes that this strategy is less demanding on the grass and encourages better root development, and that after the strategy was implemented, the conditions on the greens improved. Describes tests that are used to measure green conditions, including using the STRI Trueness MeterTM, Clegg Impact Hammer, and Stimpmeter. Lists results of testing from before and after the changes were made to the maintenance program. |
