Abstract/Contents:"Based on previous studies funded by NYS IPM and turfgrass associations previous studies have determined the impact of soil moisture and soil temperature and scarab grub species on grub movement patterns in turf-soil microcosms (Villani & Wright 1988) and the efficacy of entomopathogenic fungi (Krueger et al 1991). Prior studies related to this study and funded in part through NYS IPM funds include the impact of scarab grub age and prior conditioning on movement (Villani & Nyrop 1991) and diapause and field, lab and greenhouse studies to determine the potential usefulness of entomogenous nematodes in turfgrass (Villani & Wright 1988) and potted ornamental production (Wright et al. 1988). A summary of these findings together with a review of the literature have formed the basis for a series of tables (attached) that review behavioral patterns of Japanese beetles (table 1) and European chafers (table 2), review important characteristics of chemical and biological control agents (table 3) and finally integrate these factors to provide possible treatment alternatives in tables 4 (Japanese beetles) and 5 (European chafer)."
