| Abstract/Contents: | "Lines of Poa pratensis from the USSR, North America and Europe were rated for resistance to Erysiphe graminis in field plots at an early stage of turf formation. Severe powdery mildew developed in all tests. 'Dormie' and 'Sydsport' showed very little infection, 'Nugget', 'Delft', 'Atlas', 'Mostovskij', 'Primo', 'Captan', 'Monarch', 'Newport' and 'Nike Daehnfeldt', little infection, but 'Arista', 'Delta', 'Fylking', 'Prato' and 'Merion' were only moderately resistant. 'Dasas' and 'Park' were quite susceptible. Several selections showed less infection than some of the established turf cultivars. Differences in resistance of cultivars in these tests and those done elsewhere support the need for regional tests for resistance to this pathogen which is known to show physiological specialization." |
