Abstract/Contents:"Metamifop selectively controls problematic weeds in zoysiagrass, but the genetic diversity among cultivars may lead to differential tolerance levels. The objective of these experiments was to evaluate growth and injury of ten zoysiagrass cultivars following metamifop applications at 8 rates, ranging 0.05 to 6.4 kg a.i. ha-1. Zoysiagrass cultivars evaluated included: 'Carrizo', 'Diamond', 'El Toro', 'Emerald', 'Himeno', 'Meyer', 'Pristine', 'Zenith', 'Zeon', and 'Zorro'. From levels of zoysiagrass injury and rate of recovery, cultivars with high tolerance to metamifop included Carrizo, Diamond, Emerald, Meyer, Pristine, and Zeon. El Toro, Himeno, Zeon, and Zenith had more injury to metamifop than aforementioned cultivars. Despite injury and clipping reductions, all zoysiagrass cultivars recovered with acceptable levels of injury (<20%) from rates required for weed control (<=0.8 kg ha-1). Results suggest zoysiagrass tolerance to metamifop is highly variable across cultivars but was generally acceptable at rates required for controlling weeds."
