Abstract/Contents:"Glyphosate was evaluated for winter weed control in dormant bermudagrass in fine turf and along roadsides. Diluent volumes were maintained at less than 185 l/ha for the fine turf studies and less than 232 l/ha for the roadside studies. All treatments included a tank mix of 0.5% v/v non-ionic surfactant. Application rates and weeds controlled are as follows: 0.11 kg a.e./ha controlled cornsalad (Valerianaella radiata) and catchweed bedstraw (Galium aparine); 0.21 kg a.e./ha controlled corn speedweed (Veronica arvensis), bluets (Houstonia caerulea), spurweed (Soliva pterosperma), Venus' lookingglass (Triodanis biflora), paleseed plantain (Plantago virginica), mouseear chickweed (Cerastium vulgatum), common yellow woodsorrel (Oxalis dillenii), purple cudweed (Gnaphalium purpurem), blue-eyed grass (Sisyrinchium albidum) and annual bluegrass (Poa annua); 0.32 kg a.e./ha controlled Japanese figwort (Mazus japonicus), small hop clover (Trifolium dubium), dwarf dandelion (Krigia cespitosa) and wild carrot (Daucus carota); 0.42 kg a.e./ha controlled cancerweed (Salvia lyrata), hairy bittercress (Cardamine hirsuta) and henbit (Lamium amplexicaule); 0.63 kg a.e./ha controlled Carolina geranium (Geranium carolinianum), buckhorn plantain (Plantago lanceolata), large hop clover (Trifolium campestre), crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum), Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum), little barley (Hordeum pusillum), chervil (Chaerophyllum tainturieri) and common vetch (Vicia sativa). White clover (Trifolium repens) was not consistently controlled at rates up to 0.84 kg a.e./ha. Wild garlic (Allium vineale) was not controlled with 0.63 kg a.e./ha. Glyphosate did not injure dormant bermudagrass. Semi-dormant bermudagrass was temporarily injured by glyphosate."
