Abstract/Contents:"A commercial grass seed stripper harvester (Ag-Renewal, Inc., Weatherford, Okla.), originally designed for efficient chaffy grass seed harvesting, was modified to improve its performance in tall fescue. Laboratory model and in-field harvest tests with the commercial machine were used to identify variables affecting harvester performance. Design machine parameters investigated during the development included stripping brush characteristics, shrouding and operating speeds. Harvester performance was improved from 30 to 85% for tall fescue by modifying the shroud."
