Abstract/Contents:"Emergance [Emergence] of seedling, speed of lawn establishment, density and adaptability of 19 turfgrass species with the same sowing rate of 12 g/m2 were studied. The results showed that all the species germinated in 10 days and all seedling emerged in 15 days. Red fescue (Festuca rubra), hard fescue (F. ovina var duriuscula) and Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis) formed high-density lawnstand in a short term. Tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea), perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne) and all the other mixed turfgrass species did not show any good densities at the earlier seeding stage, and Bermudagrass usually needed a certain long term for seedling to emerge and to form lawn."
