Abstract/Contents: | "Six varieties of turfgrasses from the Barenbrug Group were evaluated during 1999-2000 in Chongqing. The results showed that all tested varieties could grow in this region. Festuca arundinacea Vegas performed the best out of five F. arundinacea varieties. Its advantages included greener leaf, moderate growing speed, and the highest coverage. It was adaptable to the two local climatic conditions of high temperature with high humidity and high temperature with drought. The second best variety was F. arundinacea Barlexas. Cynodon dactylon BarCd8USAI was able to endure high temperature with drought, had strong disease resistance and had thin stalks and narrow leaves. However its color was too light, it stopped growing early in winter, and grew slowly in spring." |
