Abstract/Contents:"Extreme saline, interacting with drought, usually results in a fall growth potential and inbalance in mineral nutrient absorption of turfgrasses in coastal areas. Water stress, even slightly, can cause a loss of chlorophyll and dormancy of turfgrasses in autumn. Experimental results indicated that autumn plus winter (September to December) applications of urea could successfully postpone dormancy and enhance post-dormancy growth, similarly, accelerate turfgrass rapidly green-up. The contents of chlorophyll in leaves were significantly higher with urea than without. In addition, EDTA-Fe, When applied alone, positively influenced the color ratings of tall fescue; however, the interaction of urea treatment and EDTA-Fe treatment was not significant."
