Abstract/Contents:"Clipping weight and turf quality measures for a 2 year period is reported comparing the response of creeping bentgrass turf under putting green management to 1 and 2 applications of two U-F compounds with 5 and 10 applications of the same quantity of nitrogen derived from natural organic and inorganic carriers, respectively. The inorganic materials produced higher total seasonal clipping yields than either the organic or U-F materials but showed no significant effect on turf quality. Seasonal growth distribution was more uniform when materials containing slowly available nitrogen were used, although some significant differences in growth rates were evident during the early part of the season. Growth curves and turf quality determinations indicate that the value of any form of nitrogen depends primarily on how it is used."
