Abstract/Contents:"Merion Kentucky and common Kentucky bluegrass seed were planted in compartmental culture tables containing sterile sand. The cultures were supplied with a 3 salt nutrient solution, maintained at 1-inch and 2-inch cutting heights and clipped at daily and weekly intervals. A randomized block design was used. Treatments were evaluated in terms of dry weight of clippings, rhizomes, and roots. Root and rhizome production was greatly reduced at the 1-inch height regardless of whether weekly or daily cutting frequency was used although a greater reduction of roots and rhizomes occurred under the weekly cutting treatment. A greater production of clippings was obtained from the weekly frequency."
