Abstract/Contents: | "Agrostis stolonifera L. is an interesting turfgrass since it can be used on both extensive and intensive areas. Thanks to its reduced height growth it is a good ground cover where no moving is demanded. The high shoot denisty [density] and the tolerance to low moving is especially important on intensive areas, such as golf greens. A high standard needs proper care, among other things perfect moving, topdressing, verticutting and a good control of fungi. There are two high quality cultivars on the market, namely the Swedish Emerald (=Smaragd) and the American Penncross. They rank similar under most condition." |
