Abstract/Contents:"The erosion protection effect of two newly developed fleeces made out of jute- and flax-waste and a coco-net were tested on a roadside slope." A rotissary rain simulator was employed and the erosion rates of the textile coverings were compared with an uncovered stretch of the same road. According to the Universal Soil Loss Equasion, "[t]he Soil Loss Ratio...was 0.72 for the uncoverd raod side slope. Compared to the uncovered soil the fleeces lowered the soil loss from 230g/m2 to 5g/m2, whereas with the coco-net the soil loss was 30g/m2. All tested geotextiles protected the road side slope effectively against erosion." However, they did not reduce the amount of run-off.
