| Abstract/Contents: | "Good turf appearance is an important goal of those who grow grass whether it be around a home or on a golf course. Nitrogen fertilization is known to be the major factor related to appearance of ornamental and recreational turf. The importance of potassium and phosphorus has also been demonstrated. Fertility levels for these nutrients can be monitored by analysis of turfgrass tissue and the soil. However, the concentration ranges required for high quality turf have not been adequately evaluated for Dade County. Analyses of a limited number of samples from two golf courses in Dade County emphasize the following: (1) wide fluctuations in nitrogen concentration in tissue, (2) underfertilization with potassium, and (3) overfertilization with phosphorus. Periodic tissue and soil analyses showed that these measurements could be used as supplementary information in establishing a management program." |
