| Abstract/Contents: | The suitability was tested of 5 seed mixtures for establishing a drought-tolerant, dense, low-growing roadside sward requiring little management. Details are given of sowing and maintenance of these mixtures on 3 different experimental sites. The growth of many species was unsuitable for this type of situation but 2 of the mixtures were promising and a further seed mixture, consisting of the most suitable turf spp. from these (Festuca ovina, F. rubra rubra, Poa pratensis and Achillea millefolium), is recommended with suggestions for its establishment and management. |
