| Abstract/Contents: | "A report is given about the turf research programme at Giessen during the recent years. This research work is influenced by the increasing need to improve the environment and an account is given of trials for greening over destroyed landscape areas in the industrial zone and on highways. Furthermore results relating to the construction of green areas and sports turf areas are reported. Central points of this research work have been water permeability, capillary conductivity, and water storage in regard to the development and the bearing capability of the turf. Finally different eco-physiological problems and investigations are mentioned, e.g. the influence of different locations, of different maintenance systems and of different rooting layers on the change in the botanical composition of the sward; the effects of nutrition; and the characteristics of ecotypes." |
