Abstract/Contents: | "Annual bluegrass (Poa annua L.) creeping bentgrass, (Penncross) (Agrostis palustris Huds.); and Kentucky bluegrass (Baron) (Poa annua L.) seeds were germinated with varied day/night temperature regimes of 25º/18º C (77º/64º F), 34º/28º C (93º/80º F) and 40º/30º C (104º/86º F) with a 12-hour thermo period. The three species of seed germinated 92, 96 and 94% respectively, with the cooler regime. With the increased heat stress of 34º/28º C, germination was 54, 75, and 42%. With the highest temperature regime of 40º/30º C creeping bentgrass seed germinated 74%, while the other two species failed to germinate." |
