| Abstract/Contents: | "At the sporting centre of the Atalanta football club, in the satellite city of Zingonia, one of the soccer fields used by the Primavera team (young players aged 15 to 20) has been remodeled by replacing the natural grass surface with a layer of artificial turf - a first for an A Series football team - infilled with granules obtained from discarded tyres. The performance infill made of granules of recycled rubber from old tyres works more effectively as a shock absorbent material and at the same time prevents the vertical deformation of the turf so as to optimize ball bouncing and rolling. The material used to infill the 52mm high synthetic turf surface is high-quality rubber, which, as mentioned above, was obtained from end-of-life tyres. The inauguration ceremony was held on 8 October and was attended by the Undersecretary for the Environment Barbara Degani, in support of an initiative that promotes research in the field of environmental sustainability and especially the reuse of recycled materials that should not be dispersed into the environment." |
