Abstract/Contents: | Increased soil moisture, from 40% to 60% field capacity, promoted the shoot and root growth of several grass species. The effect was especially noticeable in the improved growth and tillering of Agrostis spp. Poa pratensis was less susceptible to drought, the root weight being relatively high with a low soil moisture content. Responses are tabulated for 17 grasses grown in pots. |
