Abstract/Contents:"Five grass species were grown on six soils ranging from 2.8 to 17.5 ppm of HCO3 extractable phosphorus. All grasses responded strongly to phosphorus fertilization when the extractable phosphorus was below 5 ppm but showed doubtful response when the extractable phosphorus was 8.2 ppm or higher. Differences among grasses in the dry weight response to phosphorus additions were observed, but no substantial differences among the grasses were observed in their ability to obtain phosphorus from low phosphorus soils. Analysis of the grass clippings indicate 0.3 to 0.35% phosphorus is required for maximum growth depending on the species."
