Abstract/Contents:"The cold tolerance of nine warm-season turfgrass species was determined under nature low temperature and frost in filed. Two methods of evaluating cold tolerance differentials in term of quantitative measuring physiological response indictors and qualitative observing freeze injury were used. The results showed that under low temperature, the relative conductivity and the content of soluble sugar were increased, the photosynthetic rate was decreased and the freeze injury rate was increased. The preliminary evaluation of turfgrass cold tolerance based on comprehensive comparison was concluded. No.11 Eremochloa ophiuroides was most tolerant to cold; Paspalum vaginatum and No.6 Eremochloa ophiuroides ranked second; Zoysia tunuifolia, No.3 Zoysia japonica and Stenotaphrum secundatum were intermediate; No.5 Cynodon dactylon and No.419 Cynodon dactylon ranked lower; while Axonopus compressus ranked lowest."
