| Abstract/Contents: | Bensulide granular at 20 lb/acre, applied in May, 1965 and 1966, in Poa pratensis turf on a loamy sand soil, did not thin the turfgrass under adequate nutrient and moisture conditions but caused 26% thinning in the absence of fertilizers and following droughts in 1967; residues in May, 1967, amounted to 7 lb/acre in the top 6 inches of soil, 80% being in the top 2 inches. Bensulide granular at 20#, applied in May 1965 nd 1966 in Poa pratensis turf on a loamy sand soil, did not thin the turfgrass under adequate fertilizer and moisture conditions but caused 26% thinning without fertilizers and following droughts in 1967; residues in May 1967 amounted to 7# in the top 6 in. of soil, 80% of it in the top 2 in. Activated carbon at 300#, incorporated by rotary cultivator soon after applying bensulide at 15#, completely protected sown oats or rye. |
