Abstract/Contents:"This study involved in vitro clonal propagation of Manila Lawngrass (Zoysia matrella L.), Japanese Lawngrass (Z. japonica Steud.) and Chinese Lawngrass (Z. sinica Hance). Two clones of Manila Lawngrass were selected by means of direct bud multiplication or differentiation of callus induced from stolon explants, while clones of Japanese Lawngrass and Chinese Lawngrass were chosen from seedlings. Murachige and Skoog (MS) callus induction medium was supplemented with 1 t0 5 mg/L 2,4-D (2.4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid). Explants were incubated in dark for at least one month. The callus differentiation medium was MS medium with 1 to 2mg/L of 6-BA (6-benzyladenine) and 0 to 0.2 mg/L of IBA (indolebutyric acid). The multiplication medium was MS supplemented with 6-BA(KT,ZT) 1-2mg/ + IBA 0-0.2 mg/L. Shoot clusters of the three species were induced to roots in 1/2MS medium containing IBA 0.5 mg/L, NAA (naphthylaceticacid) 0.5 mg/L, or IBA 0.25 mg/L + NAA 0.25 mg/L. Rooting to 90% for Japanese Lawngrass. The rooted plantlets were transplanted, and their survival rates reached over 95% and 90% for Manila Lawngrass and Japanese Lawngrass, respectively."
