Abstract/Contents:"This experiment was conducted on fairways on Jackson County Golf Course on the Gulf Coast. Soil type was sandy clay loam. Experimental design was a RCB with 4 replications, 10,000 ft2 each. All treatments were applied on 14 Oct with a Snyder Polyolefin Agro-Tank tractor mounted hydraulic sprayer. Total spray volume was 60 gal water per acre using 8003 T-jet fan nozles with 30 psi. Immediately before and after treatment, 1/4 inch irrigation water was applied to all plots except the Orthene treated plots. All plots were irrigated with 1/4 inch of water each morning after treatment for two weeks. Rainfall of 1/4 inch occurred on 24 Oct. At the time of application soil moisture was wet, soil and ambient temperatures were 80 and 82 degrees F. respectively. Relative humididty was moderate with a cloud cover of 30%. Mole cricket damage ratings were made using a 1 m2 frame divided into nine equal, square-shaped sections. The frame was placed on the ground in 20 locations/rep. The presence of mounds and tunnels was determined visually and by touch. Damage ranged from zero (no damage in any of the nine sections) to nine (nine sections contained mounds and/or tunnels). Pretreatment counts were made on 11 Oct. and post-treatment counts were made on 29 Oct. There were differences between the entomopathogenic nematode treatments and the untreated check but they were not significant. There were no significant differences between the entomopathogenic treatments and the Orthene 75 WP treatment. There was a significant difference between the Orthene 75 WP treatment and the untreated check. No phytotoxicity was observed."
