Abstract/Contents:"Whatever the considered natural or artificial light, light plays a key role in fundamental processes involved in plant development (germination, growth, flowering,...). Green plants have not only developed an energy conversion mechanism but they also developed a system of information on their light surroundings. Plants are able to sense some light characterisation (direction, duration, spectral composition) acting as signals. Within a plant canopy, light interaction with plant organs induces very large variation in spatial and temporal of spectral composition of light. These characteristics of natural light depend on the sky conditions or the matter met whereas the characteristics of artificial light depend on the considered light source. In urban site, natural light is modified by the buildings inducing shade. Artificial light is used in order to enhance some outstanding trees and to compensate the lack of light of turfgrass in football stadium."
