| Abstract/Contents: | "A sandy loam was ameliorated with increasing amounts of fairly coarse sand to depths of 1 1/2 in., 3 in. and 6 in. Infiltration rates were determined before and after compaction and it was found that, under the conditions of the experiment, most benefit was obtained from the sand in the quantities used, by placing it as a shallow layer on top of the soil or by producing a sand-rich surface layer. Further trials are contemplated." |
