Abstract/Contents: | Collecting organics has the capability of effecting the current solid waste system. There are only 2 composting plants in the U.S. They are located in Swift and Filmore counties in Minnesota. These counties have ordinances which require the separation of garbage into 3 cateogories: organics, recyclables, and garbage. Together, recycling and composting can remove the majority of materials from the waste stream. |
