Abstract/Contents:Provides information on the composting materials, windrow size, and mixing methods incorporated at the Great Lakes Compost Center near Lansing, Michigan. Reviewed in detail are the mixing and grinding procedures and odor problems associated with plastic bags in the composting procedure. An example of the composting method used at Barnes Nursery in Huron, Ohio is provided. Their method slowly incorporates grass clippings which allows them to work their way up to a mixture which does not encourage odor problems. Sidebar information reports on various ways grass clippings are recycled nation wide. Attention is given to a movement in Michigan which would give composting operations the right to refuse "sour grass" - odiferous grass clippings.
