Abstract/Contents: | In trials over 8 years with bluegrass [Poa pratensis] and red fescue [Festuca rubra], the most consistently injurious herbicide was Bandane [polychlorodicyclopentadiene isomers] which caused a marked reduction in turf grass quality and poor rooting, and increased the susceptibility to stripe smut disease in all plots. Clipping yields were reduced in fescue only by bensulide at 20 lb, siduron 10 lb and terbucarb 10 lb/acre. A number of herbicides caused visible injury and reduced thatch. Carbohydrate reserves were not significantly affected by any treatment. |
