Abstract/Contents: | A study performed by an associate professor in the University of Iowa Department of Preventative Medicine and Environmental Health discovered that there is a higher mortality rate from lung cancer among golf course superintendents than the general population. The study also revealed that there are higher than average rates of mortality among golf course superintendents from brain cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, cancer of the large intestine, and prostrate cancer. This study was sponsored by the GCSAA, and the methods and results of the study were revealed and some recommendations were made to the audience at the GCSAA annual conference in February 1994. |
