Abstract/Contents: | "Dicamba is a selective herbicide used to kill unwanted broadleaf plants in corn and wheat, along rights-of-way, and in lawns. Its chemical structure and mode of action in plants in [is] similar to that of the phenoxy herbicides." Although dicamba is a widely used herbicide its name is not commonly recognized. There have been concerns about the toxicology of dicamba and its effect on the environment. The use, mode of action, acute toxicity, neurotoxicity, chronic toxicity, reproductive effects, mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, human exposure, effects on wildlife, effects on nontarget plants, persistence, secret "inert" ingredients, and contaminants of dicamba are discussed in further detail. |
