| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses nematicide research done to test products which may be effective as nematicides, treatments that have been offered commercially or considered for commercial use to replace EDB as fairway treatments, and favorable or unfavorable times to apply nematicides. Only a few observations and preliminary statements about some of this work could be made at this time. Injection treatments were studied to possibly replace EDB as fairway treatments. Each study included an "empty chisel" or water injection control to isolate any part of the response that might result from turf aeration -- a purely physical effect of cutting the turf. Injection slits of these treatments showed as green pinstripes in most plots of all three tests, but the effect was much less than most chemical treatments. Aeration can apparently be discounted as a major part of politive responses to chisel injections of these chemicals. Nemacur, Mocap and chloropicrin treatments have all improved turf appearance in at least some instances. However, Nemacur SC at 3 gal (9 lb ai/acre) has been superior. Final conclusions will have to wait until completion of the studies. |
