| Abstract/Contents: | "We surveyed randomly the habitat of silver-thread moss (Bryum argenteum Hedw.) at various location such as river banks, road sides, forests, parks and agricultural lands except for golf courses in Utsunomiya, Tochigi pref., Japan, and then measured the land use form, solar radiation, soil moisture, soil pH, soil EC and gemma formation at those habitat. The results were summarized as follows; 1) the habitats of the moss were limited at the road sides, road pavements and paddy field levees, 2) the moss was abundant under strong light, dry, weakly acidic and low soil EC conditions, and 3) strong relations were observed between the moss growth and solar radiation or soil moisture, and between the gemma formation and solar radiation." |
