Abstract/Contents:"Leaf and stolon growth of both cotulas was sensitive to N in the nutrient solution. The two cotulas, however, reacted differently to the experimental treatments. Extremes of pH are likely to have a greater effect on maniototo than dioica growth. Reduced root growth at low pH is likely to increase the susceptibility of maniototo to stress on the bowling green. For dioica, higher N availability would be expected to reduce root growth and increase susceptibility to stress more than any effect of pH. Where the two species are grown together on the bowling green, pH should be maintained at pH 6.0-6.5 to optimise maniototo growth and fertiliser input on established greens restricted to 6 kg N per green per year to maintain dioica quality."
