Abstract/Contents: | "A new method of greens construction has been introduced that offers the benefits of playing on natural turf while being unaffected by wet weather. A green has been constructed at the Auburn Bowls Club, using randomly orientated, interlocking mesh elements (Netlon, Trademark) incorporated into a specialised sand/peat mix. This constitutes the Natural All-weather Turf (trademark) or NAT (trademark) system of greens construction...A research programme was undertaken to evaluate this new form of construction by comparing it with two traditionally built greens. This project was funded by StrathAyr Instant Lawn, The Auburn Bowls Club and the Horticultural Research & Development Corporation." |
