Abstract/Contents:"Although solutions to sports turf drainage using sand differ in functional efficiency, the aims and concepts are similar. The key aim is to transmit water rapidly to the subsoil by one or a combination of two components: * a system of close-spaced vertical draining channels filled with permeable material installed to transmit water to a pipe drainage system bypassing the bulk soil (slit drainage) and * a layer of inherently quick draining soil (usually sand or sand-dominant soil) above a permeable subsoil or pipe drainage system (constructed profile drainage)."
