Abstract/Contents: | Details golf course construction. In the mid-1890s the first two golf courses opened in Maryland: the Chevy Chase Country Club in Montgomery County (1895) and the Elkridge Golf Club in Baltimore County (1896). However, the addition of new clubs was slow in coming. Over the next two decades only eight new courses were built. |
