Abstract/Contents: | Since 1978, when Cal Gruber at the Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, began mowing his fairways with a triplex mower, golf course superintendents have become increasingly optimistic about switching cultural practices to include triplex mowing of fairways into their maintenance programs. A noticeable reduction in Poa annua populations, a reduction in fertilizer and water rates, and an increased aesthetic appearance, are usually produced with triplex mowing. Other advantages and disadvantages are revealed in this article with cost being the biggest negative factor. |
