| Abstract/Contents: | Reports results of a study initiated in fall of 1982 at Port Ludlow Golf Club in Port Ludlow, WA to evaluate the effects of Rubigan (Fenarimol) for control of Fusarium nivale and evaluation of herbicidal activity on Poa annua in a bentgrass turf. Rubigan prevented Fusarium nivale even under considerable disease pressure until mid-January 1983 when another treatment was needed. Herbicidal injury to Poa annua seemed very slight but in areas of high Poa annua density, the higher rate (3.5 oz/m) of Rubigan appeared to deepen the color of existing bentgrass while also increasing blade width. This effect was not evident in area with higher concentrations of bentgrass, though Rubigan appears to be ineffective for Poa annua control except in conditions where it is already stressed. |
