Abstract/Contents: | "For the second year, certain plant growth regulators provided substantial regulation without compromising turfgrass quality, especially Primo during the summer months. There was a significant PGR by N rate interaction in July when quality of the stand was reduced by Primo application at low N rate. Clearly, a total of 2# N/M/year is below the industry standard, but not below what a homeowner might use should this technology become available. Cutless treated plots exhibited the highest level of regulation up to 85% of normal growth, yet, was not able to probvide acceptable quality until the end of the season in late August. This increase in quality coincided with a significant rebound effect. Growth rates, measured by clipping production were almost 2 time that of normal growth. Without exception, when PGR's wear off and no longer provide regulation, growth rates incease significantly." |
