| Abstract/Contents: | "Fungicides were evaluated on a bentgrass putting green at the Alvamar Country Club, Lawrence, KS. Fungicides were applied on 5 November 92 with a CO2-powered backpack sprayer equipped with 8004 flat fan nozzles at 20 psi in water equivalent to 4.5 gal/1000 ft2. Plots were 5 X 6 ft and arranged in a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Plots were irrigated with 1/4 in. of water immediately after fungicide application. Plots were rated on 16 March 93 for the number of patches per plot, the percent plot area damaged by the patches, and the intensity of leaf discoloration in patches. Mild symptoms of yellow patch were present at the time of fungicide applications in November. The winter of 92-93 was unusually wet and cold, and snow covered the experimental plots for long periods in January and February. By March, yellow patch symptoms were severe. Patch severity was greatest near the putting green perimeter, and this resulted in a significant (P = 0.05) block effect. Although several fungicides appeared to suppress patch development and severity, only applications of Lynx, Polyoxin, Broadway, and EXP 10064B significantly reduced the percentage of plot area damaged." |
