Abstract/Contents: | Horse tracks of Pteridium aquilinum or Calluna vulgaris dominated sites on podsols at Chobham, Surrey were studied. The dominant spp. were replaced by Molinia caerulea at the edges of the tracks. In greenhouse trials seedling emergence and growth of red fescue and Poa pratensis were greater in soils from the tracks, which were rich in N and P, than in soils from control areas. |
