Abstract/Contents:"10 commercially available native peats and composts were thoroughly analyzed while attemping 'to identify pertinent physical and chemical tests that would provide predictive capabilities of the behavior of the organic source when mixed with soil.' In general, many of the measured characteristics of the native peat samples differed significantly from those of the composts, with the peats exhibiting higher organic matter contents, lower aromaticity, higher fiber contents, lower electrical conductivity and lower pH."
