Abstract/Contents:Discusses the practice of planting seeds or stolons of a variety of strains of bentgrasses to replace the unsatisfactory Virginia bent often encountered on greens. Although not enough empirical data has been collected to ascertain the effectiveness of such practices, it has been thus far observed that most of the other strains of bent are not competitive enough to replace the established grasss in any satisfactory manner, although Seaside bent seems to have some potential. Replacing the undesireable turf with new sod seems the most effective method, a replanting using stolons decidedly less effective, and a reseeding the least effective.
