| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the often overlooked importance of soil sterilization as a means of controlling some of the more common and resiliant pests encountered on golf courses. Sterilants are divided into the sub-categories of selective/non-selective, and furthermore into temporary and permanent, although the permanent sterilants are not regarded as practical in this article. Factors to be considered when choosing a sterilant such as toxicity, adaptability, cost, residual period and overall hazard are discussed in general terms, an accompanying table rates actual sterilants according to these criteria. |
