Abstract/Contents: | Chet Mendenhall was a pioneer in the golf course management industry. He grew up on a farm, and got his first superintendent job in 1928. Over the years, he helped to design a number of golf courses, after taking night school classes to learn the basics of surveying, drafting, and bookkeeping. He served as president of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America since 1948, and has received many awards. Discusses his most recent recognition of being inducted posthumously into the Kansas Golf Hall of Fame. Mendenhall died in 1991. |
