Abstract/Contents: | "In the past 26 years there have been only three comprehensive studies of the Florida turfgrass industry (3, 6, 7,), and of these, only the 1965 study concentrated on economic issues. Although the 1987 survey was not designed solely as an economic instrument, a portion was dedicated to market-related questions to provide comparisons with the earlier two studies. The objectives of this research were to: 1) describe important changes that have occurred in the sod industry over the past quarter-century; 2) based on research findings, outline various market strategies available to sod producers; and 3) illuminate important areas that public and private researchers should consider when designing future studies for the turfgrass industry." |
